SELF-CONTROL

Self-control comes from two words; Self and control.

It is the ability to control oneself, in particular, one's emotions and desires or the expression of them in one's behavior, especially in difficult situations.

The ability to control the flesh, one's body, oneself.

Lack of self-control is the inability to control oneself, body, flesh, emotion, behavior.Without self-control it will be difficult for a man to do good.

Paul said, for I know that nothing good lives in me that is in my sinful nature. I want to do what is right, but I can not.Rom 7:18 nlt.

Without self-control the body can never do right, rather it will do evil.The absence of self-control makes you a slave to lust.

For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes... 1 John 2:16

A life without self-control is ruled by the lust and the devil sees it as one of his instruments.

Your body(your flesh) should not be left to control you.
Most times what our body requires are not the best for us, that is why we need to discipline our body and put it under control (subjection).

Until you are able to deny you flesh, you will be subjected to its control.

For instance, sometimes there could be reasons to be angry and our system which is the body will expect a physical reaction to defend the flesh(oneself) andsatisfy the emotion.

In a time like this without self-control, it will be impossible to be angry without sinning. To be angry is not a sin but without self-control, it will leadto sin.You need self-control to be patient, you need self-control for you not to join the mockers, and the backbiter, you need self-control to control your tongue.

Self-control will help you to guard your mouth and your tongue. Prov.21:23.

Self-control will help your humility, with self-control, you can overcome sexual immorality.Self-control will help you to choose good over evil, it will bring you close to God.

Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? or who shall stand in His holy place?
He that hath clean hands, a pure heart; who hath not lifted up His soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully. Ps.24:3-4.

Self-control help you to choose what to see, what to hear, what to smell, what to touch, and what to eat and drink.

Self-control will help to stay away from seeing, hearing, touching ungodly materials(unclean things), it will help you to control and guard your thought topurchase a pure heart, and it will give you contentment and satisfaction.

It will protect you from worldliness.

With self-control, you can be qualified to ascend His holy hill, you will have a constant prayer life and love God's word.

Self-control is a fruit of the spirit, meaning it can only be seen in a child of the kingdom.If you are born again you can choose to subject your flesh by putting it under godly discipline, decide never to satisfy your flesh anymore, rather determineto be ruled by God through his word.

Maintain a good communication with him in prayer and fasting.Let the holy spirit begin to lead you and guide you.

Submitting yourself to God and He will help you to overcome every flesh dominating you today in Jesus name. Amen.
